Jeans are the most popular clothing style on the planet, but according to a recent survey by the online clothing retailer jeanaot.com, many women find them more comfortable than shorts.
The survey found that 41 per cent of women said they would prefer to wear a jacket, while just 9 per cent said they prefer jeans.
This is despite the fact that while jeans are often seen as a more casual look, a majority of women say they would rather wear a t-shirt or a dress than a pair of shorts.
In addition to being popular in the West, jeans have a history of being worn by many women in Asia, the Middle East and Africa, and are often a part of the traditional attire of women in the region.
The survey also revealed that many of the most frequently worn clothes on the list of the top 5 most popular styles were made of cotton or nylon.
This means women in China, India and South Africa have to wear denim as their most preferred clothing style.
The findings show how far women have come in their acceptance of jeans and how important they are in the lives of women around the world.
