The latest rebranding of jeans is happening in the US.
The brand, Wrangler, is re-branding jeans as “Made in America” and is working with American Apparel to create a range of new jeans that will be produced in the country.
In a press release, the company said the new range will feature denim that is made in America.
“We’ve been working with the American Apples team to develop a range that we can deliver to consumers in 2019 and 2020,” the company wrote.
“We’ve partnered with the Wrangler team and American Appliances to create the American Made, USA Made jeans, which will be available to customers in 2019.”
The company also said it is “making a concerted effort” to “provide the best possible service to our consumers”.
“This new American Made line will include a number of designs that we think are exciting, unique, and we are excited to unveil them in 2019,” the statement said.
The American Appxels statement did not elaborate on what the new styles would look like.
“The American Made jeans will feature a number new features to create an incredible new look, and also include new designs to deliver superior comfort and durability,” it said.
“American Made jeans are the result of over 35 years of innovation, innovation and dedication to creating products that are as good as they are comfortable and durable.”
The statement added that American Appellations denim is manufactured in “the USA” and that the new jeans will include “an American Made denim jacket” to be worn underneath.
It is unclear how the new designs will differ from the ones that have been used for the past decade.
The statement also did not explain how the brand is “saving” the name of American Appy.
“If you are a Wrangler fan and a proud American Apper, we’re sorry to hear that we are rebrandting our jeans as ‘made in America’,” the statement read.
“But you can rest assured that American Made means American.”
The jeans will not be available in stores in 2019 or 2020.
The jeans are currently sold in select stores in Australia, but will be made available to consumers by the end of 2019.
In a statement, Wranglers brand manager, Jason Williams, said: “The American made jeans will be released to the public by American Appys end of the year release.”
“We want to reassure consumers that we will continue to work closely with American brands and retailers to deliver the best quality American made denim,” Williams said.
